Sometimes I just don’t want to blog because negative energy is just oozing from my pours & I don’t want to poison my blog with it. That doesn’t mean that life hasn’t been great lately, because it has. But without my camera to capture the moments I want to blog about…I feel blah about blogging. Posts are useless without some eye candy.
My dad hoards containers, I mean I like keeping jars as much as the next gal. But I opened the cupboard above the fridge and there was a plethora of jars & containers.I mean, I can’t move without hearing clinking of glass & fearing that I’ll drop them all on my head. Then forever be known as that blogger that died from an avalanche of jars falling on her noggin. Lame way to die really.

I love that a majority of the containers I buy food in can be saved. But I need some crafts to do with some of these guys. Big plastic containers store art & coloring supplies for us. Glass jars are great for saving leftover & taking tea in your lunch bag. But there are so many you can use before going “Alright, what the heck can I do with these!?!”. HELP! What can I do with these things? Arts & crafts projects for children are welcomed! Anyways…..HELP!!

Here you go. The mom jeans. I’m wearing them today to hide all the pizza rolls, soda and candy I’ve been so badly scarfing down as of lately. Umm I promise I’m getting a gym membership once that income tax moola rolls in. But for now, we’ll just hide as much pudge as possible with a tummy controlled pair of jeans. That’s how I’m rolling today.

Being a mom doesn’t mean I HAVE to rock the mom jeans..I mean I DO but I don’t HAVE to. I have a pair of jeans I affectionately call my “Mom Jeans”, they pull in my tummy & have a no gap waistband. Well wouldn’t you know it, I must have picked out the trendiest looking mom jeans in the world. I’m constantly getting compliments on them. I found them on clearance at Target for $10, used a $5 coupon so yes my sexiest pair of mom jeans cost a whopping $5! But they make me feel like a mom from the 90′s, they don’t go past my belly button (about an inch under it) but they aren’t my normal jeans that lay at the hips.
Where am I going with this? Well it’s just weird being a mom. I don’t wear many v-necks anymore because when my son is on my hip I don’t want him pulling at my top & showing everyone just what is under my shirt. Wearing a dress or skirt? Oh you bet I’ll be wearing tights or a pair of shorts under it, I’m not having this two year old making a fool of me again when he tries to hide under my skirt.
When I get to rock a totally comfortable & cute outfit I’m a very happy mama. Like for instance the pictures of me in the dress, I was going to a Quinceañera. I felt so good in my stockings, wedges, dress & even better that everything so comfortable! I mean these shoes were like a piece of heaven!! Shopbop, you indeed make some charming & comfortable shoes. Thank you!
Speaking of comfortable shoes… I entered to win a pair of toasty Whooga ugg boots. Whooga are quickly gaining recognition as a popular alternative brand of sheepskin boots with their thick Thermofleece foot bed. To enter just sign up to their newsletter. I’ve already entered because we all know I’m a sucker for contest & giveaways!! Plus the knit boots look like a BIG step up from my Old Navy knit boot that cuts into my right foot, these have such great reviews I’d love to see a pair of them on my feet. And guess what? Oh and if anyone is wondering about my outfit.

My dad consisted of hanging out with my 8 month old nephew & my sister in law. We did ridiculous things like strip the baby down & put him in a box that I tucked my dad’s quilt into. As in my dad made this quilt. And it is made from clothes me & my brother wore as children. Isn’t that sweet? It needs some mending….you hear that dad? *poke* Daaaadddd?

After a bunch of snacking & playing we went back outside. This time we walked to the park to enjoy some more time outdoors. The boys love being outdoors. We spent awhile playing, swinging, taking pictures, chasing Micah’s balloon & laughing at the park. It’s so nice to enjoy time outdoors with the wonderful weather we’ve been having in Texas lately. My nephew (T3) was as cute as can be, I couldn’t resist posting his chub on here! Look at those chubby wrists, hands, cheeks, arms, belly….oh man and if you could have seen his LEGS! SOOOOO chubby!!

All Micah’s pictures are blurry, poorly lit or just plain crazy. He would jump on me, run, slide or do something else when he saw the camera coming. Sometimes that just happens. But, oh how I love his upside down picture that was taken as he tackled me in a slide.

Him climbing up a slide to get me with a missing shoe. He spent most of the time at the park with only one shoe, he didn’t seem to care but that seems fitting since he has Flinstone feet (got it from his mama).

Oh Micah, your pictures might not be perfect, focused or shadow free but I love that they show your playfulness.

Me: FRIDGE. OUT.

Cue Micah running into the living room with a huge smile & an apple.

Being green comes easier to some then others. And then some things that are easy for one family are hard for another. Well I do some things and don’t even realize that other people would say “I could never do that” & then there are some things others will do that make me say “Man, that’s something I could never do!”
For instance, it’s probably been two years or so since I’ve bought paper towels. We have an abundance of clean up towels for cleaning up messes, spills & anything that would take a paper towel. I have a drawer just for all these towels. Then when bath towels get sad looking they get cut up & turned into clean up towels. And you might be thinking “Well Pamela, you have to WASH those!”. Yes, yes I do but my white pile of laundry is usually so small it seems wasteful to wash them on their own cycle (we don’t wear much white AT ALL), so it seems to make up for it.

We also have a compost pile in the corner of our backyard for leaves, yard clippings, forgotten fruits/veggies and even the daily coffee grounds. A compost bin is coming soon to certain back porch to ensure all the compostable materials don’t get thrown away. Hopefully these will be good for the plants I plan to plant in the spring!
So there are a few green things we do that come almost naturally to us now. What is something green you do?

My daily pot of coffee is delicious but at the same time I knew there was something I could do with all those grounds that get thrown into the trash everyday. So after reading Barely Beautiful today, following a few links wouldn’t you know that I found the information that I had forgotten to google week’s in a row. And these coffee grounds are going to get a new home & reused in many great ways now. You can see the full 11 ideas over at myzerowaste. I know that a lot of my buddies out there are also coffee-aholics, so let’s reuse those grounds for the greater good! Random goodness, have a great day! The first things I’ll be trying are coffee grounds as an exfoliant, putting them in my compost pile & keeping ants away.

We can’t get enough of playing in photo booth! Lots of silly faces, cuddling & laughing when we do this!! Now that Micah is down for a nap I can clean that mess behind us, so pretend that’s not there. Kay?
