Giveaway: Seventh Generation Prize Pack!

Posted by admin on April 21st, 2010 . Filed under: Win It! .

I’m slowly making my way to a greener way of life. And one way I’m doing that is by using Seventh Generation cleaning products, while I was pregnant with Micah I would clean & inhaling all those awful fumes that traditional cleaners let out frightened me a bit. Breathing in that bleach & heavy smells…that just can’t be good for you. So I started making my own cleaning supplies from vinegar, baking soda & lemon juice. But JP didn’t “trust” they were truly getting things clean & swore he could always smell the vinegar. So I started using store bought cleaners and Seventh Generation is my favorite brand of Earth friendly products. They get everything sparkling clean without me gasping for “fresh” air. I know lots of people don’t think that a “green” product can do the job that traditional cleaners do…but they do the same job that any other cleaner does.

Would you like to win a prize packed filled with awesome Seventh Generation products? The kit includes a disinfecting multi-surface cleaner, bathroom cleaner, wipes , a copy of The Conscious Kitchen, a cleaning caddy made from recycled plastic, and two rolls of 100% recycled, unbleached paper towels.

You can earn up to four entries to the giveaway by these various ways, each entry has to be on a separate comment. 1 comment = 1 entry, 4 comments = 4 entries.

i just started going green and still looking for some more ways to go green. i have two kids (3 and 2) and i started using the vinegar, baking soda and lemon juice to clean the bathroom. my kids are so attached to me that they go every where i go and when i’m cleaning the bathroom to give them a bath they like to be in there with me and didn’t like it that they were inhaling that bleached stuff. that has really helped me with cleaning. we also walk alot. the kids love walking every where. i also use cold water to do laundry. turn the lights off if i’m not in the room. i definitely need more ideas since i have two little ones

I’ve been trying to go green myself. At least in someways. We have been using reusable grocery bags when we shop and we’ve been using green cleaners and sprays. I find not only do they have a nice smell, but they do the job the same as the other cleaners and with 4 kids… I feel better as a mom knowing they aren’t as dangerous.

Oh man, I am a SUPER green person and I have been my whole life without even really knowing it! I live in the country and grow all my own food, use solar power to heat my water, and use natural ingredients for everything… it’s not a difficult lifestyle either! :) These cleaners would be perfect in my home!

Ok Pam! Going green, Good for you (noh8) More power to you… But I don’t mind the way cleaning supplies smells. I don’t get high off them or anything like that, but it doesn’t bother me. Plus we grew up just fine. Growing up as i was a kid saturdays we all had to help with the cleaning and they didn’t have all this GREEN stuff there is now. I get it though. Earthfriendly and what not! I’m just sayin’

I condense errands, carpool with my mom, don’t run out for frivolous trips, drive my car instead of my husband’s (4 cylinder = 30-33mpg, vs his V6 = 22mpg), and I use reusable tote bags for shopping trips.

I have to admit, the one aspect of my household that I haven’t gone green with is with cleansers! But hey, if I win this giveaway, I’ll be able to get a head start on things. :)

Yeah we grew up fine but I want better then fine, I cleaned dishes & the house everyday as a kid but I didn’t use many harsh chemicals. My mom would always kick us out of the house when she used bleaches & stuff so we wouldn’t inhale them. I can’t use Lysol products without feeling a burn in my chest. Natural cleaners clean just as well without being harmful to the household & environment.

Cleaners stick to surfaces a lot longer then we think & then stick to our foods that are set onto these surfaces (cutting boards, counters, tables). Then you’re eating your cleaning supplies, if your using botanical disinfecting cleaners though there is no reason to worry about that not like you should guzzle them though.

They didn’t have all this “green stuff” but people were still green it just wasn’t a trend, more of a way of life. I know my grandma would use baking soda, vinegar and homemade cleaners. Being “green” can also save people lots of money, it cost a LOT less to make your own cleaners. JP just hates the smell of vinegar so I’m stuck with buying my cleaning products until I can find the right mix that he’ll tolerate.

I understand not everyone wants to go green or cares to, but it’s something I believe in. I’ve always tried not to waste energy, water & materials since I was kid so it’s just in my heart.

We make our life greener by regularly recycling everything possible. We also use CFLs, Energy Star appliances, and reusable shopping bags. We combine driving trips to save mileage — and turn things like lights off when not in use. *Thanks* for the giveaway!

Am I a weirdo for liking the smell of the non-green cleaning stuff? =P I might try this other stuff though because like you mentioned, I wouldn’t want my kids (when I have them) or my pets inhaling the fumes.

Today, we are starting a new green thing…making our own hand soap…old soap slivers go into a hand pump with a little warm water…shake and use for hand washing.

  25. Andrea

I make my own baby food (no glass or plastic waste), recycle, have recently started using Seventh Generation cleaning wipes, try to buy used clothes and other baby items, drink sweet tea instead of coke to eliminate can & bottle wastes, stopped buying bottled water, and just bought my first all natural soap a few weeks ago.

We’re big recyclers at our house and I always try to bring my own shopping bags to the grocery store. We also installed a water saver showerhead and we have outlet power strips so we can shut off all non-essential appliances when not in use to conserve on stand-by power consumption.

Now that spring/summer is here, I’m using my bike to run errands rather than drive the car. Most of the stores I frequent are pretty close (bank, drug store, dry cleaner) and I’m able to run errands by bike, rather than use the car.
