Is this labor??

Filed under: Daily .Yesterday I was at my mother’s in law for dinner (fajitas!), to wash some laundry (really haven’t felt like going to the washeteria) and to watch movies. Well I noticed these intense pressure/pushing/crampy pain *down there* and mentioned it to my sister-in-law who told me they were contractions probably. Well after seeing me in discomfort we decided to write them down and see how often they were coming along. Once we did we saw that they were on average 5-6 minutes apart…wait isn’t that when my doctor told me to call him? I called & he sent me to the hospital. Sure enough they were contractions but I wasn’t dilalated… Okey..? Well the nurse said they’d monitor me to see if the contractions keep on and if I progress with dilating. Me & JP walked around the floor for a bit but it was starting to get where it would hurt to walk so we sat in our room…watching tv, flipping through magazines & JP timing my contractions. He then figured out the machine I was plugged up to and watched the contractions happen on screen as I huffed and puffed through them with nothing but laughs and smiles after each one. Well I didn’t dilate at all and with no dilating they had to send me home. Let down. But you know what? He’ll come when he wants to and we can wait. There is no way I would want to rush it or induce it so this is how it’s gone so far.
On our way home JP stopped at the grocery store to pick me up some Tylenol PM & pineapple sherbert… Oh did I mention I didn’t even get to eat fajitas because everyone told me if I was going into labor I shouldn’t eat… I snuck a small piece of fajita and it was sooooooo good. I can’t stop thinking about that fajita meat…. well I’m going to eat a pancake breakfast. Everyone have a great day

Oooh you are getting close..
The same thing happened to me with my last baby, however after a few hours at 5-6 minutes apart my contractions went to 3-2 minutes apart and I still wasnt dilating, yet was having back labor and in so much pain.. so they “swept my membranes” and sure enough thats all i needed and went right into labor…i walked for hours and hours and she came out!
he’ll come when hes ready… which sounds like it could be soon! are u still having contractions?

Aww, yay.. it sounds like your little boy is going to be here SO soon. You just might have him before the due date!

I had contractions two days before I had Ivy. We went to hospital and I was 3-4cm dilated but then the contractions stopped. They kept me in over night and I hadn’t dilated more by the morning (Mon) so they sent me home. Went back the following day (Tues) to have my waters broken and Ivy was born 5hrs later.

with Jasper, i had irregular contractions for 3 days at home 24/7 before heading to the hospital and finding out i was 4cms. my contractions were anywhere from 6 mins to 20 mins apart the whole time, i worked it down to 5 mins (walking around the house) and headed in because i hadn’t slept and eaten and wanted to see what was going on
i think that even though you were contracting quicker than 5 mins – you did the right thing in coming home, if you want to avoid induction etc. it’s always nicer to be in a comfort zone rather than try and rush through it when bub is not ready, imo.

Oh mannn…do you guys not have laundry facilites where you’re living? I was looking at places, and the only reason I wouldn’t take some of them, is because they didn’t have a washer/dryer. Sucky!

The same thing happened when I was pregnant with Alyssa. I was four days overdue when the contractions started. They were painful enough to make me wince/catch my breath, and after two or three days sped up to being 4-6 minutes apart, but I was dilated or effaced, so I was sent home.
My advice? Rest when you can, but keep walking. The weight of the baby on your cervix can definitely assist with thinning and opening your cervix.

i was induced two times. we tried for two days but i just wouldnt dilate, thats why i ended up with the c-section.
but, sounds to me like you’re going to go any day now! good luck with everything.
eat light meals since it could happen at anytime and rest as much as you can!!!!
