Oh man! You’re making what?
Posted by admin on July 21st, 2008 . Filed under: Daily .When I was little there were always meals that me & my brother would get excited over my mom making, you know those meals that didn’t get cooked that often because they take too long in the kitchen? Well my ultimate favorite was lasagna, my mom wouldn’t pop one of those frozen ones in the oven (even those take 45 mins!)!! So I was cooking lasagna on Friday and called JP to tell him & when he just boringly said “cool”. My jaw dropped and I was just blurted out “Aren’t you excited??”. He just laughed and said lasagna wasn’t that big of a deal, so I explained how lasagna was the “special” thing in my heart that I remember getting excited over he thought it over and couldn’t really remember a food like that growing up. But he did let me in on his exciting food that I make for him…those mini-meatloaves (i could have sworn I posted the recipe?)! I make them maybe once a month…maybe. But they are so easy I was surprised I didn’t know before hand that he liked them so much, I know they always dissappear quick & he’ll even take them as leftovers. I’ll be surpising him with those taste meatloaves for dinner…along with mashed potatoes! YUM!
So what was that food that you would get excited over when you were younger? Or even now?

i always get excited when my mom makes chicken pot pie (well veggie pot pie for me). She makes it with a cornbread crust. It’s so good!

I get pretty excited about lasagna too. The trick is to make 2 pans, does not take much longer than making one, then freeze the leftovers and bake them when you are ready for them.

Lasagna and home-made Pizza. My mom probably made home-made pizza, like maybe twice? The last time, I was 9 or something.. And I got SOOO excited b/c I got to help put the toppings on! It was when my brother had his teenage friends over to a bbq/drinking/party in our backyard and I wasn’t allowed to be around them (haha) so mom was like “LETS MAKE A PIZZA”… Haha, waaaaay cooler than partying

Alrighty, I finally signed up for the grocery game. Now I don’t totally get it. Since you’ve been doing it for a while, can you explain it to me in a better way. I really want to find good deals on razors, shampoo, deodorants, snack foods, and produce. I’m a broke ass hoe what else do you use and how do you use it?? – Shaunie

That food was always tacos for me. My mom didn’t like to make them too much because my brother and I were such messy eaters, but when she did (usually for one of our birthdays) she’d go all out.
Even when I make them for myself now I get giddy.

For me it was always her lasagna.
My absolute fave was a chicken stuff with a spicy rice and crawfish mix. Fabulous! Our neighbor from our the neighborhood I grew up in used to come back from his oil job in the Gulf and pick the chickens up from Venice, Louisiana. The skin and the actual chicken were flavored so well it almost didn’t need the rice.
Now I am huuungry!
