Cleaning the house?
Posted by admin on July 18th, 2008 . Filed under: Daily .Today I was cleaning the bathtub which seems to get a ring around it every 2-3 days (I believe it’s the water in this area of town) & every few days I have to scrub it down. Spraying all those cleaning supplies in the tub though can sure make a girl feel light headed. And I was thinking this really can’t be good for the baby or me… I’m inhaling all these horrible chemicals that are probably 40x stronger then I actually even need them to be.
Have you ever cleaned the house and had a choking/coughing spree because the overwhelming smell of all the products? Well I do almost everyday that I clean (not saying I clean house everyday…cause Lord knows I don’t) and after reading a few things on natural cleaning products I thought to go to organic cleaners….but the price is so high for anything natural or organic. So I did research and decided that once I use up all of my multi-purpose cleaners (I only have 3 bottles at the moment, which go quick because they clean for every room in the house) I will start making my own multi-purpose cleaners out of things that won’t have me in a choking frenzy just because I want to clean the tub.
It’s just a more environmentally friendly & body friendly way of doing things. I know I sound like a big hippy to so many people around me, but being pregnant has just made me want to take the next step in helping our planet. And it’s better then spending a butt load of money on cleaners…I bet I could max out a credit card on all the cleaning supplies I use a year. LOL Oh speaking of credit cards I found this really cool website that has all types of credit cards & credit card information. I’d really like something with airline miles…that would be wonderful..just wonderful
I was thinking to start writing pieces on how you can become more environmentally friendly & it actually fit in with your life style. Would anyone be interested in those?

Just do vinegar and water, works pretty much as well as most cleaners, almost as good as bleach on mold in the shower.
My dog isnt fully house trained yet either and if i clean his messes up with v&w he wont pee there again.

Magic Eraser. All you use is warm water. It works great on the tub too. The extra one in the pink box work best.

Have you ever tried Method products? I absolutely love them! They’re all non-toxic, biodegradable, blah blah blah, and the best part is they all smell so yummy! They have an after shower spray that works really well to keep the tub clean longer.

On my tub I just use baking soda, a little vinegar, and a scrubby pad. On the rest of the bathroom, I just use Clorox Green Works All-Purpose cleaner because it’s only $2.50.

You should write posts on e-f stuff :]
And oh, about the cleaning thing- OMG YES. When I had my apartment with my ex, I use to clean my house top to bottom once a week and that meant scrubbing the bath tub, toilet, floors etc etc. And like your water, ours use to leave some stains. The only thing I could find to get it off would be toilet bowl cleaner (although I heard it may take the paint off the bath tub?). So I would use toilet bowl cleaner in the tub to get the stains off + shower scrub on the walls of the shower THEN some Mr. Clean stuff just to get everything to sparkle more, haha. So yeah, I would ALWAYS have to leave the bathroom every 2 minutes b/c it was waaay too strong. Once I got sick from it SO, for YOU, either use non-scented enviro-friendly stuff OR get the hubby to do it
DEF. not healthy for anyone!
